75,000 have moved away from California.
The U.S. Census Bureau has issued its latest population estimates.
According to the bureau’s numbers, Florida gained more than 365,000 and Texas increased by more than 473,000. New York lost the most residents, with nearly 102,000 residents moving away, followed by California, Illinois, and Louisiana.
Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia accounted for 67 percent of the nation’s population growth. For some states, expanding foreign immigration has increased their populations. California, for example, added 126,000 foreign migrants last year.
The reasons generally cited for moving are the cost of living, surging crime, homeless crises, and failing schools.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Robert Santos as he heads the Census Bureau.
- For U.S. Census Bureau officials as they analyze and evaluate the population data.
- For wisdom for state and local officials as they determine how to respond to their residents’ primary concerns.
